IAFF 42 Members Elected to CLUW’s National Executive Board
Local 42 is proud to announce that two of our members have recently been elected to positions within the Coalition of Labor United Woman (CLUW). CLUW is an organization which was established in 1974 to represent the needs of unorganized working women and to make unions more responsive to the needs of all working women.
Michele Newby, who has been a member of the Kansas City Fire Department for the past ten years, was elected as a Vice President. Michele has served as an elected member of Local 42’s Executive Board for a three year term and has served as a Business Agent since March 2007.
Julie Weiss, who has been a member of the Kansas City Fire Department for the past seven years, was elected as a National Delegate to represent the interest of smaller unions.
In early 2008, Michele and Julie assisted with organizing the Greater Kansas City Chapter of CLUW. Michele has served a President of GKC Chapter for CLUW and Julie has served as Recording Secretary since the chapter was organized.
More information is available on the IAFF website and the CLUW website. Please join us in congratulating both of these members on their recent elections and we wish them well in these leadership roles.
