IAFF Loses Legendary IAFF Leader Vincent J. Bollon
It is with deepest regret and sorrow that the IAFF reports the death of IAFF General Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus Vincent J. “Vinnie” Bollon. Vinnie passed away March 28 while at home.
Bollon served as General Secretary-Treasurer of the IAFF from 1988 to 2010. He was one of the IAFF's longest-serving principal officers. He joined the Fire Department of New York in 1959 and was secretary-treasurer of the Uniformed Firefighters Association Local 94 and served as president of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association Local 854. After retiring from the fire service, he was made President Emeritus of Local 854.
March 30, 2011 – Vincent J. Bollon – long-time IAFF principal officer, celebrated labor leader and respected New York City fire fighter – passed away March 28 at the age of 77 in his home in Fairfax County, Virginia.
The wake for General Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus Bollon will be held on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 from 2:00- 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. at the St. James Funeral Home, South Chapel, 829 Middle Country Road, Route 25, St. James, New York 11780.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 4 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saints Philip and James Roman Catholic Church, 1 Carow Place, St. James, New York. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx, New York.
