Friday, January 7, 2011: It is with deepest regrets to inform you that a member of the Kansas City, MO Fire Department, Fire Apparatus Operator Richard Paul, age 54 passed away while on duty. Richard had a medical emergency while performing his annual Fire Department Physical; he was transported to a nearby hospital and later passed away.
FAO Paul joined the KCFD in November 1977 and was promoted to the rank of Fire Apparatus Operator in January 2006. Richard was married; he leaves a wife and two children. Visitation and Funeral are pending and we will update this story as more information becomes available.
Funeral notice for KCFD FAO Richard Paul, P/43/A, who passed away on Friday, January 7, 2010:
Please be advised that the funeral service for KCFD FAO Richard Paul is scheduled for 1000 hours on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the Kansas City Baptist Temple located at 5460 Blue Ridge Cutoff. The burial will be at the Floral Hills Cemetery located at 7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard.
Local 42 will host a fellowship gathering at Gladden Hall at 6320 Manchester Boulevard following the burial.
The uniform for department personnel will be Class A with duty jacket and uniform cap. The uniform for chief officers will be Class A, trench coat and cap.
Flags will remain at half staff until sunset on Friday, January 14, 2011. Badge mourning ribbons shall be worn from this point until the flags are raised to full staff on Friday, January 14, 2011.
Attendance at any of the three events by on-duty personnel shall be coordinated through the chain of command.
