In early 2010, the Affordable Care Act was passed as part of the Health Care Reform Initiative. Included in the law was a new rule that requires a doctor's prescription for the reimbursement of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs and medicines from a flex medical spending account beginning January 1, 2011.
Please read the OTC Fact Sheet regarding the impact upon current participants in the medical flex plan. WageWorks has prepared this document for the City of Kansas City, MO flex medical plan participants. WageWorks currently pays claims submitted by flex plan participants and ensures that payments are compliant with IRS code governing the City's plan. Please direct inquiries to WageWorks at 1-800-950-0105.
