On Friday, October 22, 2010, Battalion Chief Donna Maize was promoted to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. Chief Maize is the first female to ever be promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief within the 143 years the Kansas City Fire Department has been in existence.
Chief Maize has served as Battalion Chief over the Hazards Materials Division for KCFD for a number of years. She will now serve as the Special Operations Deputy which includes ARFF, Haz-Mat and Rescue Divisions.
